Private Thomas Hettle

Private Thomas Hettle, 19th ( Service ) Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. He died at Scremerston Town Farm on the 13th April 1921 aged 25. He had been born in Belford and was the son of Thomas and Agnes Hettle of Ancroft North Moor and the husband of Elizabeth Hettle of Ancroft. He had been attested under the Derby Scheme but does not seem to have gone to France until Spring 1918 where he was wounded. He was discharged from the Army on 15th December 1919 on a full disability pension. He is buried in Ancroft Churchyard.
