Private Percy Pomfret, 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. He died from the effects of gas poisoning in France on the 18th January 1918 aged 21. He was the son of Edwin and Lilias Pomfret of Berwick-upon-Tweed and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. At that time the Battalion was holding trenches near Monchy in the Arras sector. Before enlisting he had been employed on the Haggerston Estate near Berwick.
