Private Thomas Mabon

Private Thomas Jamieson Mabon, 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Cameronians ) Scottish Rifles ). He was killed in action in France on 28th March 1918, aged 26, during the German Spring Offensive ( Operation Michael ). He had been born at Cavers and was the son of Mr and Mrs Archibald Mabon of  Ledgerwood and Airehouse, Oxton, Berwickshire and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial,Arras, France. He had been working at Haymount Farm, Kelso when he had enlisted in the Royal Scots in June 1915.  In France he was later transferred to the Cameronians. The photographs show Allied troops preparing to resist the advancing Germans.
