Private William Baxter Young, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. He was killed in France near Loos, aged 28, on the 24th November 1915. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of Adam and Margaret Young of 15 Canongate, Jedburgh. He had been employed as a stone mason at Jedburgh Abbey when he enlisted, landing in France in July 1915. His Battalion was the Pioneer Battalion in the 15th ( Scottish ) Division. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France.
