Private William Alexander Milne, 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. He was killed in action in France, aged 22, on the 25th May 1916 and is buried in Vermelles British Cemetery, France. He had been born in Drumoak, Aberdeenshire and was the son of John and Rachel Milne of Broomhall, Alyth, Perthshire. Before enlisting he had been employed as a policeman in Jedburgh. At that time the Battalion were in trenches on the old Loos Battlefield and lost 11 Other Ranks killed during May.
