Private Walter Jasper Miller, 15th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in action in France, aged 19, on the 15th June 1917. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of Walter and Agnes Miller of 27 Castlegate, Jedburgh. Before enlisting he had been employed in his father’s fishmonger and fruiter’s business. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. At that time the Battalion was occupying front line trenches and some casualties were caused by shelling.
