Private John Harvey Oliver. 7th ( Service ) Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He died from wounds in France, aged 22, on the 1st April 1916. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of Adam and Jane Oliver of 16 Queen Street, Jedburgh. Before enlisting in August 1914 he had been employed as a joiner and had also played rugby for Jed Forest R.F.C. He had been wounded during the Battle of Loos on the 27th September 1915 and had just returned to his Battalion when he was fatally wounded when the Germans shelled the Battalion support line causing 8 casualties.
