Private George Wiseman Ralph, 8th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He had been born in Burghead, Morayshire and was the son of Francis and the late Christina Ralph and the husband of Joan Ralph of 15 Queen Street, Jedburgh whom he had married in Jedburgh in January 1942. They had met whilst the Battalion was billeted in Jedburgh. The Battalion had landed in Algeria as part of “Operation Torch” and had moved forward into Tunisia. He fell in the same action as Corporal McDonald ( see before for more details ). He is commemorated on the Medjez-El- Bab Memorial, Tunisia. The photos show British troops in Tunisia in November 1942.
