Private George Sinton Crozier, 1st/9th ( Highland ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in action in France, aged 22, on the 1st August 1918. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of Eliza and the late Adam Crozier of Canongate, Jedburgh.. He had been working as a gardener for Lord Stratheden at Hartrigge, Jedburgh when he enlisted in November 1915 being mobilised into the Scottish Rifles in May 1917. In France he was then transferred into the 11th Royal Scots with whom he was wounded during the German Spring Offensives. Upon recovery he was posted to the 1st/9th R.S. but had been attached to the 185th Tunnelling Company of the Royal Engineers when he was killed. He is buried in Raperie British Cemetery, Villemontoire, Aisne, France. ( His brother William had fallen during the Battle of Loos in 1915- see below ).
