Private Archibald Henderson, 19th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in action in France, aged 20, on the 4th November 1918 during the ” Advance to Victory”. He had been born in Kinfauns, Perthshire and was the son of John and Bessie Henderson of 30 Canongate, Jedburgh. Before enlisting he had been employed as a seedsman in Jedburgh. He was killed by shrapnel near Valenciennes but his grave was lost so he is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France. The M.G.C. used the Vickers Mk11 water cooled gun in both defensive and offensive roles. The photos show gunners in action.
