Lance Corporal William Hendry, 11th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. He died on Active Service in England, aged 22, on the 4th November 1941. He had been born in Linton, Jedburgh and was the son of James and the late Christina Hendry and the husband of Mary Hendry of 65 Parkside, Jedburgh. He had been employed at the North British Rayon Company in Jedburgh before enlisting. His Battalion was formed in june 1940 and was beig used for coastal defence duties in the Norfolk area. He died in the Cromer District Hospital, Norfolk and is buried in Castlewood Cemetery, Jedburgh.
