Lance Corporal Robert Leslie 9th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on Service in England, aged 25, on the 3rd June 1943. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of James and Marion Leslie of Galashiels and the husband of Janet Leslie also of Galashiels. He had been employed as a policeman in Jedburgh for three years when he enlisted in September 1942.. The Battalion were occupied in coastal defence in the Norfolk area when he died in an accident in Norwich. The Battalion had been disbanded in May 1943 but Lance Corporal Leslie had not yet been transferred at the time of his accident. He is buried in Eastlands Cemetery Galashiels.
