Gunner John Fairbairn Halliday, 239 Battery, 44 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery. He died in India on Active Service, aged 24, on the 10th December 1942. He had been born in Westruther, Berwickshire and was the son of Robert and Janet Halliday of 63 Parkside, Jedburgh. Before enlisting he had been employed as a butcher in Jedburgh and played rugby for Jed forest R.F.C. He is buried in Chittagong War Cemetery, Bangladesh where his Headstone is inscribed ” Sleep In Peace Till We Meet Again”.
