Private James Black

Private James Nisbet Black, 8th Regiment ,South African Infantry. He was killed in East Africa  on 17th March 1917 aged 32 . He had been born in Coldingham and was the son of Celia and the late John Black of Reston. He is commemorated on the Dar Es Salaam British and Indian Memorial. (He is ranked as Corporal on the C.W.G C. site). He was posted to the 8th Regiment in German East Africa in July 1916 but was posted missing from the camp at Mile25 on the Kilossa-Iringa road in what is now Tanzania.
