Private Ralph Hills, 1st/5th ( Renfrewshire ) Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in action in Belgium on 14th October 1918 during “The Advance to Victory” and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, Belgium. He had been born in Lowick, Northumberland and had enlisted in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The photographs show Allied troops during the advance against the retreating German army in the final 100 days of the War.
