Flight Sergeant William Trotter

Flight Sergeant William Trotter, Royal Air Force. He was a Wireless Operator with 108 Squadron and was lost on a raid on Rhodes, aged 23, on 27th September 1941 and is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Alamein, Egypt. 108 Squadron flew the Vickers Wellington medium bomber from Kabrit Air Base in Egypt on bombing raids on enemy held bases in Libya and Greece. He had been born in Greenlaw and was the son of Flora and the late Robert Trotter of “Flora Bank”, Duns Road, Greenlaw. He was educated at the Berwickshire High School, Duns and is also commemorated on the Memorial Tablet placed in the new High School, Duns.
