Private Albert Trotter

Private Albert George Trotter, “B” Coy. 14th ( Service ), Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in action in France on 3rd September 1917 aged 24. He had been born in Greenlaw and was the son of Albert and Isabella Trotter of Rowchester, Greenlaw and Crooks Cottage, The Hirsel, Coldstream.  Before enlisting in June 1915 he had been employed as a clerk in the Board of Trustees for the National Galleries of Scotland in Queen Street, Edinburgh. He is buried in Fins New British Cemetery, Sorel-Le-Grand, Somme, France and his Headstone is inscribed ” Until We Meet Again “. He was educated at the Berwickshire High School, Duns and is also commemorated on the Memorial Tablet placed in the new Berwickshire High School, Duns.
