Private George Yule

Private George Henry Yule, 1st Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in France on the 27th May 1940 aged 21. He had lived at Middlethird, Gordon and was the son of Margaret Yule of Greenlaw, Berwickshire and is buried in Longuenesse ( St. Omer ) Souvenir, Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. The Battalion was part of the rearguard covering the Dunkirk evacuation and they held their last defensive perimeter in the area of the Bulscamp Bridge. On the 31st May the Battalion was ordered to withdraw to the beaches at Bray Dunes.
