Private William Redpath

Private William Redpath, 1st/4th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in action on Gallipoli on 28th June 1915 during the Battle of Krithia, aged 28 and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Helles, Gallipoli ,Turkey. He fell in the attack on Turkish trenches at Gully Ravine which were eventually captured but at a very heavy cost. 15 Officers were killed along with 204 Other Ranks and 6 Officers and 141 Other Ranks were wounded.  He had been born in Greenlaw and was the son of William and Agnes Redpath, Crumrigg, Greenlaw and is also commemorated on the Greenlaw War Memorial and fuller details can be found there.
