Private Arthur Dillon, 2nd Battalion ,Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in France on 20th April 1917, aged 20 during the Battle of Arras. He had been born in Gordon in 1897 and was the son of Patrick and Agnes Dillon of Fewside Cottage, Gordon and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France. Before enlisting he had been employed on Borthwick farm, Cranshaws, Berwickshire The photographs show British troops accompanied by a tank in the main street of a captured village near Arras.
