Lance Sergeant Robert Jardine, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He died from wounds in Belgium, aged 32, on the 4th May 1915 and is buried in Poperinghe Old Military Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Wilhelmina and the late James Jardine of Galashiels and the husband of Catherine Jardine of Springburn Glasgow. He had enlisted as a Regular soldier in 1899 and had served in the second Anglo Boer War in South Africa. He had been discharged but as a Reservist he had rejoined the Regiment in August 1914 on the outbreak of the War. He suffered from a poison gas attack and died in a field ambulance at Poperinghe.
