Private Thomas Grant

Private Thomas Laidlaw Grant, 3rd (Prince of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards. He was killed in action in France, aged 27, on the 27th September 1915 during the Battle of Loos. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of the late Lewis and Isabella Grant formerly of Hall Street, Galashiels. He was a Regular Soldier and had served for seven years before moving to France in August 1914 with the 6th ( Carabiniers) Dragoon Guards. He was wounded on the Aisne in September 1914 and upon recovery he was posted to the 3rd Dragoon Guards. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France.
