Private John Wilson Fletcher, 2nd Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in Belgium. aged 33, on the 29th June 1918 and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert, Memorial, Flanders, Belgium. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Thomas and Catherine Fletcher of Galashiels and the husband of Lily Fletcher of Falkirk Road, Bonnybridge. He had worked as a cashier in the Galashiels Co-oP before moving to Bonnybridge to work in the Co-op there. He fell the day after the successful attack on the 28th when the Battalion was consolidating its gains and suffered some casualties from enemy shelling.
