Sergeant Christopher Boland

Sergeant Christopher Boland , 8th (Service) Battalion, Black Watch. He died from wounds in France, aged 25, on the 28th December 1916 and is buried in Faubourg D ‘Amiens Cemetery, Arras, France. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Agnes and the late Christopher Boland of 23 Magdala Terrace, Galashiels. Before enlisting he had worked in the Ladhope Mill and played football for Gala Rover F.C. He had joined his Battalion in France in May 1915. His Headstone is inscribed ” Ever Fondly Loved”.
