Private Charles Baillie, 19th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps. he died from wounds in France, aged 19, on the 23nd June 1918. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Andrew and Williamina of Croft Street, Galashiels. Before enlisting he had been employed as an apprentice painter in Gala. He died in the 8th Canadian Hospital in Charmes and is buried in Charmes Military, Essegney, Vosges, France.
