Driver Robert Brownlee

Driver Robert Hall Brownlee. No.1 Depot, Army Service Corps. He died on Service in the Southern General Hospital, Bristol. aged 21, on the 1st August 1917. He had been born in Galashiels son of Robert and Annie Brownlee of 50 Waverley Place, Galashiels. He had been living in Edinburgh when he joined the Territorial A.S.C. in November 1913 being mobilised in August 1914. He was transferred to the Regular A.S.C. in September 1916 and joined the 2nd/5th London Field Ambulance in France before going with them to Salonica. Here he fell ill with T.B. and was evacuated to Malta before being evacuated again to hospital in Bristol where he died. He is buried in Eastlands Cemetery, Galashiels. ( His brother David also died during the War -see above).
