Private Thomas Keir

Private Thomas Donaldson Keir, 12th ( Service ) Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He died at Foulden Hill, aged 29, on 15th March 1917 and is buried in Foulden Parish, Churchyard, Foulden, Berwickshire. He had been born in Glasgow and was the son of the late Barbara and Thomas Keir. He had been employed as a bill poster in Glasgow when he enlisted in September 1914 going to France in September 1915.  The Battalion was then transferred to the Salonica front  where a year later he became ill with a heart condition. He was evacuated home in January 1917 and discharged from the Army but shortly died at the home of his next of kin William Chapman of Foulden Hill.
