Private William Tait, 9th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers.He died from malaria at Nakhon Pathom Camp, Thailand on 5th June 1945, aged 26, whilst a Prisoner of War of the Japanese, having been forced to work on the Burma-Siam Railway.He is buried in Kanchanburi War Cemetery, Thailand. He was the husband of Mrs Tait of Ford Westfield, Berwick. He had been captured with most of his Battalion at the fall of Singapore on 15th February 1942.
