Corporal James Elliot, 7th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He died whilst a Prisoner of War of the Germans in Poland on 7th May 1941, aged 23. He was the son of George and Annie Elliot of Wooler, Northumberland and is buried in Malbork Commonwealth War Cemetery, Poznan, Poland. The Battalion had been attached to the 51st ( Highland ) Division and was forced to surrender at St Valery-en-Vaux on 12th June 1940 after being surrounded by superior German forces.
