Flying Officer Gordon William Bigmore, Royal Australian Air Force. He was killed in a flying accident on 18th October 1943 aged 21. He was the son of Harold and Olive Bigmore of Malvern, Victoria, Australia and is buried in Fogo Churchyard. 9 (His name is not on the Fogo War Memorial ). His Bristol Beaufighter crashed into a wood on high ground near Greenlaw whilst preparing to land back at R.A.F. Charterhall. His navigator Flying Officer Hirst suffered serious injuries but survived. It was presumed control had been lost in thick cloud.
