Sergeant Gilbert Hanlon

Sergeant Gilbert Douglas James Hanlon, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in a flying accident on 17th February 1944 aged 20. He was the son of James and Eva Hanlon of Brighton, Sussex and is buried in Fogo Churchyard. ( His name is not on the Fogo War Memorial ). His Bristol Beaughfighter was on its final approach to Winfield Aerodrome when it crashed at Fallow Farm. His Headstone is inscribed ” O Light Eternal, Jesus Blest, Shine On Them All And Grant Them Rest “
