Private James Burgon, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. There is the following entry in the C.W.G C. site. Sapper James Burgon, Royal Engineers ( Inland Water Transport ) He died at sea on 26th February 1918 and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Basra, Iraq. He was born in Eyemouth and enlisted in Berwick-upon-Tweed so it is probable he enlisted in the K.O.S.B. at the Barracks and was later transferred into the Royal Engineers.
