Private James Lough Borthwick, 51st Battalion, Australian Infantry Forces. He died of wounds in France on 3rd April 1917, aged 31. He was the son of John and Catherine Borthwick of 27a Albert Road, Eyemouth and is buried in Pozieres British Cemetery Ovillers La Boiselle, Somme, France. He had emigrated to Australia in 1916 and had enlisted there. Previously he had been a booking clerk at Ayton Station, then Berwick and finally Eyemouth. He had been a noted footballer and had played for many of the local teams.
