Flight Sergeant George Sinclair Wishart, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was a Navigator with 218 ( Gold Coast ) Squadron R.A.F. and was lost on an Air Operation on 27th May 1943. He was the son of S. J. and Ina Wishart of Eyemouth and is buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany. At the time of loss 218 Squadron flew the Short Stirling heavy bomber from R.A.F. Downham Market as part of the Main Bomber Force. He was educated at the Berwickshire High School, Duns and is also commemorated on the Memorial Tablet placed in the new High School, Duns. The colour photo shows a Stirling being ” bombed up” before a mission.
