Seaman David Dougal

Seaman David Dougal, Royal Naval Patrol Service. He was lost at sea, aged 26, on 22nd September 1940 when H.M. Trawler “Loch Inver” was mined in the North Sea off Harwich and lost with all hands. He had been born in Eyemouth and was the son of David and Jessie Dougal and the husband of Alice Charlotte Dougal of 4 Chapel Terrace, Eyemouth and South Shields and is commemorated on the Lowestoft Naval Memorial.  Before enlisting he had been a fisherman on the Eyemouth boat ” Spes Bona”. The vessel had been hired by the Admiralty in May 1940 and was used as an anti submarine/auxiliary patrol vessel.
