Lance Corporal William Stansfield

Lance Corporal William Stansfield, 5/6th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in action on 11th August 1918 during the attack on Parvilliers during the “Advance To Victory” aged 23. He was the son of Elizabeth Stansfield of Horseupcleugh, Longformacus and is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France. The photographs show Allied troops advancing after the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War
