Private Robert Richardson

Private Robert Richardson, 44th ( Manitoba) Battalion, Canadian Infantry. He was killed in action in France on 22nd August 1917, aged 40 and is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, France. He had been born at Kirkhope, Selkirkshire and was the son of Jasper and Isabella Richardson of Hardenmains, Oxnam and Newtonlees, Ednam. He had emigrated to Canada in 1911 and was farming near Brandon, Manitoba where he enlisted in April 1916. He had only been in France for six weeks.
