Sergeant Alexander Sherriffs Scott, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in action on an Air Operation, aged 22, on the 1st February 1945. He had been born in Marykirk, Kincardineshire and was the son of William and Margaret Scott of Colinton, Edinburgh. He was a member of 166 Squadron R.A.F. Bomber Command which at that time flew the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber from R.A.F. Kirmington in Lincolnshire. He was lost on a raid to Ludwigshafen when his aircraft crashed in the target area with the loss of all crew. He is buried in Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany where his Headstone is inscribed ” Dearly Beloved And Highly Esteemed By All Who Knew Him. Sadly Missed”.
