Lance Corporal Andrew Kerr, 32nd Battalion, Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in action in France on 18th September 1918, aged 24, during the ” Advance to Victory ” and is buried in Gouzeaucourt New British Cemetery, Nord, France. He had been born at Ormiston Farm, Eckford and was the son of Elizabeth and the late John Kerr of Ormiston Farm and Knottylees Farm, Kelso. The M.G.C. used the Vickers Mk1 water cooled gun in both defensive and offensive roles. The photographs show gunners and Allied troops advancing against the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
