Corporal Ian Buchan

Corporal Ian Mungo Buchan,  1st Battalion, The Royal Fusiliers, City of London Regiment . He was killed in action in Italy on 17th September 1944, aged 22. He had been born in Perth and was the son of John and Elizabeth Buchan of the Schoolhouse, Birgham, Eccles and is buried in Florence War Cemetery, Italy. ( He  had originally enlisted in the Cameronians  in January 1942 but was transferred to the Royal Fusiliers).  He had been educated at Kelso High School and had served his apprenticeship as a joiner in Birgham. His Headstone is inscribed ” At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Them”.
