Corporal Walter Scott Donaldson, 4th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in Germany on 24th January 1945, aged 23. He was the son of William and Helen Donaldson of Earlston and is buried in Sittard War Cemetery, Holland. He fell in the assault on the fortified German village of Heinsberg which was captured using infantry, tanks and flamethrowers. The photographs show the Borderers in Germany in 1945.
