Flight Sergeant Warren Wood

Flight Sergeant Warren Wood, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was lost at sea on 10th August 1941, aged 21. He had been born in Blairgowrie and  was the adopted son of David and Jessie Redden of Easter Street, Duns and is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Alamein, Egypt. 148 Squadron at that time flew the Vickers Wellington Bomber from Lucqa in Malta in attacks on Axis bases in Italy and Libya.. He was educated at the Berwickshire High School, Duns and is also commemorated on the Memorial Tablet placed in the new High School, Duns. He had joined the R.A.F. in 1936 and was reported missing from the Hospital Ship “Aba” and was presumed to have drowned.
