Private John Colvine, 2nd Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died of wounds in the Regimental Aid Post in France on 28th June 1918 aged 29. He was the son of Mrs and the late Andrew Colvine of Preston, Duns and is buried in Tannay British Cemetery, Thiennes, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Sleep On Dear Son And Take Thy Rest They Miss You Most That Loved You Best “. Rows E and D of this cemetery contain only men of the 2nd K.O.S.B. He fell in the attack in the Foret De Nieppe where they suffered 200 casualties in the capture of the German positions. Before enlisting He had been employed as a ploughman by Mr Forrest of Preston. He had been born in Chirnside and had enlisted in Duns. He is also commemorated on the Preston War Memorial.
