Private James Lawrie Darling Wilkinson, 6th ( Service ) Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in France on 4th June 1916, aged 27. He had been born in Duns and was the son of Mr William and the late Euphemia Wilkinson of 44 Easter Street, Duns and is buried in Vermelles British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. Before enlisting in May 1915 he had been employed as a rural postman at Duns Post Office. His Headstone is inscribed ” I Am At Peace For Ever Safely Home In Heaven At Last “.
