Private Henry Simpson

Private Henry Simpson, 1st/7th ( Blythswood ), Territorial, Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action in France on 27th September 1918 during the ” Advance to Victory” aged 19. He had been born in Duns and was the son of John and Esther Simpson of Cumledge Mills, Duns and is buried in Moeuvres British Cemetery, near Cambrai, France. Before enlisting in Berwick in February 1916 he had been employed at Cumledge Mill, Preston, Duns. The photographs show Allied troops in the advance against the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
