Lance Bombardier George Bedworth

Lance Bombardier George Bedworth, 5th Heavy Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery. He died of dysentery in Thailand on 26th July 1944 as a Prisoner of War of the Japanese ,aged 26.  He had been born in Abingdon, Berks and was the son of George and Janet Bedworth of 16 North Street, Duns. He had been captured at the fall of Singapore in February 1942. He had been forced to work on the notorious Burma-Siam Railway and is buried in Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, Thailand. ( The War Memorial shows him as being a Lance Corporal in the Lothian and Border Horse ).
