Private John Cruickshank

Private John Cruickshank, 13th Coy., Labour Corps. He died in Belgium on 5th August 1917, aged 37, and is buried in Gwalia Cemetery near Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. He was the son of Donald and Margaret Cruickshank and was married to Agnes Cruickshank. He had been employed as a stonemason in Melrose before enlisting in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers transferring into the Labour Coy. Seaforth Highlanders and from there into the Labour Corps. where his skills as a stonemason would be an invaluable asset.
