Private Dan McDiarmid, 6th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. He was killed in action in Normandy, France on the 29th June 1944, aged 22, during the Normandy campaign. He had been born in Selkirk to Hugh and Agnes McDiarmid of Abbotsmoss, Melrose. and is buried in St. Manvieu War Cemetery, Calvados, Normandy, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” To Memory Ever Dear Ever In Our Thoughts. Father And Mother Abbotsmoss, Melrose”. The photos show troops during the campaign.
