There is however, a John Dempster Pringle listed who was born in Coldstream and his details are as follows. Sapper John Dempster Pringle, 80th Field Coy., Royal Engineers, killed in action in France on 6th August 1918 , aged 40. He had been born in Coldstream and was the son of the Late Annie Pringle and the step son of John Pringle who had married in Coldstream in 1879. He had served his apprenticeship in Coldstream and was working as a tailor in Darlington when he enlisted in December 1914, landing in France in July 1915. He was the husband of Frances Eleanor Pringle of 17 Anns Terrace, Hope Town, Darlington and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Pozieres, France. It is likely he enlisted in the London Scottish and later transferred into the Royal Engineers.
