Sergeant John Graham Curran

Sergeant John Graham Curran, Air Gunner, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died on Service on the 5th September 1943 aged 19 and is buried in Haycombe Cemetery, Bath. He had been born in Edinburgh and was the son of Katherine Mclelland  of Coldstream. His Headstone is inscribed ” In Memory Of My Dearly Beloved Son. ” The Light Shineth In The Darkness”. He had lived with his Grandfather Patrick Curran in Home Place Coldstream and was working as a painter when he enlisted in 1943.  He was aboard an Avro Lancaster of 1661 Heavy Conversion Unit which had left R.A.F. Winthorpe on a cross country flight but in a storm the aircraft crashed on the Brecon Beacons at Trecastle.
